The same assessment, pointed at a different problem
A founder wants to know whether the money is being wasted. A marketing director needs evidence that will survive a meeting. An ecommerce business has ten thousand pages and a faceted navigation problem. The method holds; the emphasis does not.
There is a familiar kind of page on agency websites where an industry name has been substituted into otherwise identical copy. The ecommerce version and the SaaS version make the same claims about bespoke strategies and measurable growth, and neither says anything that could not be said about the other.
The pages below are not that. Ecommerce genuinely has problems that professional services firms do not have — faceted navigation generating tens of thousands of near-identical pages is not a problem a six-person consultancy will ever face. And a professional services firm has a problem no retailer has: expertise that is claimed everywhere and attributed nowhere.
By role
What you need from an assessment depends on what you are accountable for and who you have to convince.
By sector
The framework is consistent. Where it points, and which findings matter, is not.
By situation
Sometimes the question is not what to improve. It is what went wrong, or why nothing is happening.
A page that differs from another only by the industry named in it was written for a search engine, not for the person it claims to address.
